Fountain of Life

“In the fear (awe, reverence, respect, piety, fear, terror) of the LORD there is strong confidence (trust, confidence, refuge, security), and His children will have a place of refuge (shelter from rain and storm, and from danger of falsehood). The fear of the LORD is a fountain (spring; of source of life, joy, purification (fig.); flow) of life, to turn one away from the snares (bait, lure) of death (death, dying; death by violence).” Prov. 14:26-27

As we meditate on, confess, declare, embrace, and affirm Who God is according to His Word, we grow in our awe, reverence, respect, and piety toward the Lord. As we sink into the reality of Who He is, we grow in our trust, confidence, and security in Him. In other words, we grow in intimacy with the Lord.

God is the source of life, the source of our joy, the One Who purifies us, the One from Whom all life flows!

Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life…” (John 14:6)~~that covers it! It’s in knowing the Truth that we find shelter from the danger of falsehood; it’s in knowing Him that we find shelter from the storms of life. He Himself is our Rock, Fortress, Shield, and Stronghold (Ps. 18:2); it is in Him we sidestep the snares of death.

This world is filled with the “snares of death,” those things that would temp us to stray from the Way, to stray from the Truth, to stray from the Life. As we learn to stand in awe, reverence, respect, and piety toward the Lord, we grow in the desire to live in a way in which we are saddened, broken, and devastated when we learn that we have strayed from the Way. It is then that we must fall upon the Rock in repentance, receive His forgiveness, and turn away from the snares of death that we may enjoy the Fountain of Life!
